Module Code:   ENG2087M

Academic Year:   2015/6

Teaching Period:   Semester 1

Module Occurrence:   A

Module Level:   FHEQ Level 5

Module Type:   Standard module

Provider:   Engineering

Related Department/Subject Area:   Engineering: Mathematics and Computing (not in use)

Principal Co-ordinator:   Dr A Byrne

Additional Tutor(s):   -

Prerequisite(s):   ENG1074L

Corequisite(s):   None

To enhance and extend previous mathematical knowledge, and the understanding of principles supporting general and mechanical engineering themes and to develop concepts facilitating innovative analytical solutions and application of more advanced techniques to treating general and mechanical engineering problems.

Learning Teaching & Assessment Strategy:
Theory, calculation methodologies and applications are delivered in large lectures and exercise classes, with practice and general and mechanical engineering context established in discipline tutorial groups where oral feedback is given. Discipline skills are assessed in a classroom test (to facilitate written feedback) and the wider learning outcomes of the module are assessed in the final closed-book examination.
